St.
Anthony's Center "free" clothing store may soon have to charge
for the clothing they now offer free if people continue to dump trash at
their back door while the store is closed.
The store accepts only boxed or bagged clothing donations, according to
manager Claire Caputo, and then volunteers sort the donations, removing
damaged or soiled items before anything is offered to the public. |

Cutting
it too short, a tractor trailer temporarily blocked traffic Monday afternoon
by knocking down a traffic light and damaging a utility pole at the intersection
of West Fourth and Hepburn streets. The driver, John Bennett, 57, of Massachusetts,
was turning north onto Hepburn Street from West Fourth Street about 2:30
p.m. when the trailer clipped the traffic light and pole. According to city
police Officer Trent Peacock, no citations will be filed and no injuries
were reported. Representatives of PPL Electric Utilities responded to remove
their leaning pole and city streets and parks department crewmen removed
their traffic light pole knocked from its base. The tractor trailer driver
was en route to a delivery stop at the Williamsport Sun-Gazette. |
